"Why Is Music Important To Our Community?"
Congratulations to the following students:
Erykah Sherell Perkins
Elementary Student
Music is important to our community because it provides entertainment
for lots of citizens. Music appeals to everyone of any age, young or old.
Music adds the spice to life.
Everyday music provides pleasure to our ordinary lives. Everyone likes to go to the movies.
Movies without sound would be uninteresting or dull. Listening to music while riding in the car
on vacation is fun because you can sing along with your relatives. The long drive would not be too long because you are taking time to be with your family.
Learning to play a musical instrument is lots of fun. Playing the piano is my dream. I have played a piano before
but would like to learn again. If I can learn how to play the piano, I would be able to play in an orchestra.
I could even earn a scholarship to college. I just might become a famous piano singer and have a famous name. I would even have me name on the sidewalk in Hollywood!
With lots of practice, I could become rich and famous.

To a community, there is always something that brings everyone together. In my community, that is music.
Whether it is the volunteers at the nursing home or the soothing background music at the stores, music is everywhere you look.
It is the universal language.
Music touches everyone in a different way. The nursing home shelters the people who have seen it all, yet some if their memories are fading away.
Volunteers take time out of their day to play music to the elderly which brings back the things that they thought were lost.
The music resonates throughout the room touching their very essence giving life and energy to them once again. They relive their younger years through the music.
The elderly who have been condemned to a wheel chair are moved by the music and struggle to dance and some even stand up. Miracles like this spread from music everyday.
Sergei Rachmaninoff once said, "Music is enough for a lifetime, but a lifetime is not enough for music." Although most people fail to realize this, music has always been here. If you have ever
looked you would see the trace of music's footprints universally. Life revolves around music. In our community, music is what keeps life upbeat. Music always captures the mood of the room and though we overlook it, music makes up our life.
A society depends on music more than they realize. Music is the universal language, music is understood everywhere. The famous quote "Where words fail, music speaks", is an unsaid truth of our world. Without music, everything would be a silent void,
life would leave from everything. We depend on music to communicate with everyone, to soothe us when we are irritated, and to speak that which cannot be spoken.
Through the ages music has shaped our world and community into what it is today. Music is the reason we have been able to survive this long, without it our society would fall apart. you may not see this reality, but if you just give a cursory glance to our society and what really goes on and
look again and you will see the truth; everything has music, everything depends on music, music is everything.

In a community as diverse as the one we live in, music has become an extremely important element. Conflict often arises between groups with the community; music, however, has the ability to unify people of all cultures, languages, races and creeds.
Everyone can relate to music, no matter who they are. Although today's world seems to be full of differences, given the opportunity to share music, any two people anywhere in the world can have moments in which differences are not apparent to them and they are just two people.
This is because music is truly universal. Every culture around the world has its own form of music expressing its beliefs and views. Music has a way of expression that words cannot quite accomplish. A person can feel music in his soul. When he hears the music it is like he is hearing his thoughts, his beliefs, his emotions; everything that person does not have words to describe is reverberating in the room and through him, fear and love and pain and happiness. In music the world's emotions are captured and set free again and again for everyone who is part of that world to experience and come together in.
